While there are various of types of geologists, a wellsite geologist is one that works more on fields. These are professional individuals who handles classification of rocks and soils to come up with the proper and approriate drilling process. These individuals are also expected to be skillful enough to cater with significant devices used in examination.

With this type of work, procedures will involve testing and analysis. Having said so, it is expected that you know how to observe details well. Aside from that, you have to be able to think quick and come up with possible solutions to ensure a positive outcome of your analysis.

Having a good technical knowledge is needed. When working for this career, you will be handling a lot of machines during specific procedures. Having said so, it is highly recommended to understand the uses of these machines so as not to fail in any examination taken.

Regular supervision. From time to time, there will be drilling for oil and gas. When this happens, you should always be present for every session as you will be the one to supervise such procedure. Along with supervision, you will be analyzing the sample rocks and muds taken from the drilling.

Because you will be working on field, you should expect that tragic events may appear anytime. And thus, you must always be prepared for these things. Having a knowledge about how to keep wellness in the site can be a plus. Especially if you are able to attend to the needs of injured well.

The Good Leader. As a wellsite geologist, it is your duty to guide all the junior employees present in every procedure. With all the knowledge that you have, you should be able to share these things with the aspiring ones. More so, you should ensure that these people have understood whatever process was done during the drilling.

In order to pursue this passion, you will need a degree in Geology. And while there are a lot of branches for this study, you may consider focusing on oil and gas exploration for this. The reason behind many geologists wanting to work in Permian Basin is because this place, located in between Western Texas and New Mexico, is considered to have the most productive formation in the United States since 2007 and thus, producing variations of geological formations.
