For Removal Of Mold Northern Virginia Is Worth Visiting

By Carolyn Wilson

A good number of individuals hold the assumption that a mold situation in their residence is mainly an aesthetic issue. Such individuals do not realize that apart from ruining the appearance of a residence, molds are a health hazard. For this reason, homeowners are supposed to make effort in combating or dealing with it early enough. This is helpful in scaling down the effects of molds. When in need of removing mold Northern Virginia should be visited.

Identifying the fungus is the initial step in mitigation. Individuals have to be sure of what they are combating prior to making any further initiative. Mold does well in moist areas even though it can occur anywhere in a residence. Access to moisture and a temperature ranging from 40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit can lead to development of the spores on the surface that they fall.

The spores are microscopic meaning that they cannot be seen by the unaided eye. However, mildew which is a type of mold is the most visible. It starts as tiny black spots which grow in numbers in the course of time into large colonies. It has the appearance of black stuff which a person can see on damp walls, grout lines in the shower, and surfaces of deck boards among many others areas.

People need to comprehend that it may be hard to differentiate between a surface that has dirt and that is infested with mildew. A simple mildew test is useful in distinguishing the two. It comprises applying a few drops of household bleach onto the surface and letting it soak for a few minutes. This is followed by wiping the bleach off. A mildewed surface lightens up while a dirty surface remains dark.

The other way of ascertaining whether a house has a mold problem or not is by investing a testing kit. Sadly, the kit and bleach are not needed if the concentration of mold is high since it will emit a pungent smell that anyone cannot miss. There are several types of molds. The commonest ones include stachbotrys or the black mold, aspergillus, and penicillium.

Stachybotrys discharges toxins into the air. Therefore, it is the most dangerous. Extremely moist areas are where they frequent. These areas include places exposed to floods or with major leaks in pipes. Aspergillus is commonly found on floors, paper products, and wood. They are present in various colors such as white, black, green, and brown. Penicillum can be bluish or green and one can find them on food items and wood.

The step following identification is removal of the molds. The person to take care of the cleanup is determined by a number of factors. One such factor is severity of the problem. A homeowner can take care of a small infestation of less than 10 square feet. Large infestations should be left to the service of cleanup contractors.

In conclusion, studies indicate that molds are the most prevalent cause of a number of cancers and respiratory problems. A number of respiratory issues caused include asthma attacks, sneezing and coughing issues. Children and the elderly appear to be the ones affected most in mold infested residences. This does not rule out the fact that healthy people may also be affected.
