One of the techniques used by farmers to get high yields from crops is the use of pest control. During harvesting, pests can lead to low yield because of the damage they cause to crops. A good example of the pests that attack plant before harvesting are moles. Transport of water and minerals within the plant can be interfered because of the damage caused by thee animals. Here are some facts about mole trap.

Moles are usually a headache to the farmer if control measures are not taken in time. These types of pests are very dangerous as most farmers are never in a position to detect the intrusion of moles into their farmers as the pest attacks the stalk but the plant does not fall immediately. The farmer confirms attack after several plants fall of due to lack of water and support from the soil.

The most efficient means of dealing with this menace is by the use of traps to get the pest. Special raps are made and set for the purpose of capturing live moles on the farm. This method is considered as there it is cheap, affordable and environment friendly. Though it is important to know how to lay the traps so that one gets to capture the pest.

Buying or acquiring a trap is just a step to mole control. Setting traps to make a catch is normally the biggest ordeal. Proper setting of the trap can save a yard or crops from constant attacks by the mole. It is advisable to cross-examine the yard or field and check where there are tunnels that were recently used by the moles before deciding to set the trap.

During trapping, permanent and deep tunnels are prioritized as they can be directions to the moles homes and routes commonly used. They have high chances of getting the moles. Presence of freshly opened tunnels also indicates moles existence therefore if traps are placed in these areas they can be easily caught. It is also important to note that moles make their runways close to structures such as fences more reasons to set the traps along fences.

It is advisable for one to set traps in early spring before reproduction of new litters. This will effectively control mole population in the field of an individual. Ample time and space to manage the small population is effectively done in this period of time. Change after several times can hardly be noticed because of overcrowding of moles which was due to failure of the traps.

Moles are trapped while trying to reopen an already blocked pathway or tunnel on which the trap is put. The snare is usually set in the sense that a slight contact with the moles causes its jaws to grab the pest and restrict its motion. Although manufactures provide guidelines on how best to set the device relying on this guide may result in an unfruitful venture sometime.

Unfruitful projects can sometimes be achieved from guidelines given out by manufactures on best ways an individual can use to set traps. Suitable and possible ways of trapping a mole can be done by the use of trial and error method. Although it may take time to master a suitable method.
